1Kings 19:4-5

4while he himself went a day’s journey into the desert. He came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, LORD,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.”5Then he lay down under the tree and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.”

1Kings 19:9-10

9 There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the LORD came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?”10He replied, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.”

Introduction

1.Life is unpredictable – The unpredictable is inevitable. Life and resources can be unpredictable

2.Managing what you did not see coming –things you expect and enjoy the one we don’t enjoy. The worst of time can get the best out of us

3.He wanted to die – We should say things we should say. Despair lead to depression. Strong people have Weak moment. Does weak moments have us.

4.What is going on the inside must not determine what is going on in the inside.

1.Unmanaged fear – bad news put him in the bad place- 1Ki 19:3 Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there,

2.Unmanaged frustration – expectation

3.Unmanaged failure – did I save enough

4.Unmanaged fatigue – if he cannot take you out he wants to take you down

5.Unmanaged flight – we cannot overcome what we ignore – we cannot fix what we cannot face we cannot conquer what we cannot confront

1Kings 19:11-12

11The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

1.Care physical and spiritual

2.Conversation – Did not hide his emotions

3.Council -A voice you can submit to. Listening with expectation to help you. Counsel as a means of covering. Counsel from somebody.

4.Calling – We have work to do
