Becoming a Contagious Christian

Matthew 28:19-20

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Divine Formula For Impact

HP + CP + CC = MI

  • HP means High Potency, a strong enough concentration of Christ’s influence in our lives that His power and presence will be undeniable to others. Result of reading the Bible and prayer.
  • CP means Close Proximity We need to get close to people we are hoping to reach in order to allow His power to have its intended effect. Christ attempt to take the masks off and be real with each other.
  • CC which stands for Clear Communication of the gospel message.
  • Maximum Impact • HP/high potency + CP/close proximity + CC/clear communication = MI/maximum impact

  • Inauthenticity among the ranks of those claiming to be Christians can become an almost insurmountable barrier to belief.
  • People are not interested in committing their lives to Christ unless they observe attractive and consistent patterns of living in the Christians they know.
  1. Just Being You – stop apologizing for your God-given design.
  2. Being Real on the Inside – be emotional genuine.
  3. Being Forthright about Failure – dedicated Christians deal with foul-ups and failures.
  4. Living Like We Mean It – live by genuine conviction.

Benefits Of Being Contagious

  1. Adventure -God loves to stretch us beyond our comfort zones and challenge us to take risks on the front lines of His kingdom.
  2. Purpose – you start anticipating that God might surprise us with an eternity-altering opportunity to shape your purpose.
  3. Fulfilment – we start to feel a sense of fulfilment that transcends the realm of everyday human experience.
  4. Spiritual Growth- we becomes revitalized in his word
  5. Spiritual Confidence – Engaging in efforts to extend your faith to others can go a long way toward strengthening your confidence in your own beliefs.
  6. Enduring Investments – Jesus warned His followers not to “store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal” (Matt. 6:19 – 20).

The Costs Of Contagious Christianity

  1. Time and Energy – How better could you expend your time and energy than investing it in people, many of whom will thank you for all of eternity in heaven?
  2. Reading and Study – it’s going to take some Bible study and, occasionally, reading other books.
  3. Money – investing in the lives of others takes a tangible investment. Lunches, phone calls, providing for the physical needs, taking them to seminars and etc.
  4. Risk of Embarrassment, Rejection, or Persecution – “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Gal. 6:9).
  5. It Complicates Your Life – It encroaches upon our independence. It adds details to our overloaded schedules.

  1. There is tremendous pulling power in the expression of even a single act of kindness. And God wants that power to draw people toward the reality of His Son.
  2. John 13:34 – 35: “A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. All men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”

Passion killers

  1. Where You Live – you may have come from, or may still be living in, a defeating home or work environment.
  2. How You Live – try to maintain an unhealthy pace of life.
  3. How You Give – overdose on expressing compassion.
  4. What You’ve Received – love breeds love and compassion produces compassion. People who regularly enjoy fresh touches of love from the hand of God are then going to turn around and extend a similar kind of grace and kindness to other people.
